Nébih: labeling errors found in liver creams inspection
A total of 37 liver creams were tested in the Supermint program by experts from the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), who identified labeling problems in 13 products, but no safety or food quality errors were found – Nébih told MTI on Thursday.
They announced that all of the products included in the test belonged to the liver/liver cream group with a minimum liver content of 25 percent, as defined by the Hungarian Food Code.
The main ingredient of the products was pork liver in 21 cases, and chicken liver in 16 liver creams. 17 Hungarian and 20 foreign-produced products participated in the test, their packaging ranged between 48 and 400 grams
– they wrote.
As part of the food safety and quality tests conducted in Nébih’s laboratories, the calcium, protein, glutamic acid, and heavy metal content were checked, among others. Everything was found to be in order from a food safety and quality point of view.
Of the liver creams, 13 did not fully comply with the labeling requirements: the experts found irregularities mainly in the indication of ingredients and the nutritional labeling.
For example, in two liver creams, the measured and labeled values of the fat content did not match.
