Nébih: Ardo vegetable mixture was recalled from the market
Due to the possible presence of toxic plant parts (potato berry fruit), Ardo Hungary Kft. recalled the Ardo Wok mix vegetable mixtures from the market – the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) informed MTI.
Nébih asks customers not to use the Ardo Wok Mix 2.5 kilogram products with an expiration date of February 2025 and the 1 kilogram products with an expiration date of August 2025. The price of the affected products will be refunded.
Nébih wrote about the toxic substance: solanine is a toxic substance belonging to the group of glycoalkaloid compounds, these compounds naturally occur in various widely consumed vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. Symptoms of poisoning at higher glycoalkaloid intakes include a bitter or burning sensation in the mouth and flu-like symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. In more severe cases of glycoalkaloid poisoning, a series of nervous system symptoms may occur (dejection, monotony, restlessness, tremors, confusion, weakness, blurred vision). Green, damaged, rotten/spoiled or sprouting potatoes should be avoided.
