Nébih: 19 proceedings were initiated against distributors of cocoa powder
Due to labeling errors and too low vitamin content, official proceedings were initiated against cocoa drink powder distributors in 19 cases based on the instant cocoa drink powder test of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), which revealed that all 34 tested products were compliant from a food safety point of view, the authority announced on Thursday to MTI -with.
It is explained in the announcement: Süpermenta was launched in 2014, and so far 100 product ranges have been complexly tested in the product test program. Of the drink powders tested in the jubilee 100th test, 30 were produced with added sugar, three were produced with sweeteners, and one product was produced without added sugar or sweetener. The study included 18 instant cocoa powders that were enriched with vitamins and/or minerals. Regarding their origin, 23 were foreign and 11 Hungarian, and their weight ranged from 15 to 1300 grams.
It was highlighted: among other things, microbiological measurements were carried out, and the sugar, fiber and gluten content of the products was checked. The experts found these results to be adequate. The cocoa powder content of the drink powders varied widely, between 8 percent and 55.6 percent. They also measured the vitamin and mineral content of enriched cocoa powders. The measured values, with the exception of three products, corresponded to those on the label. Official proceedings have been initiated against the relevant food entrepreneur, and the recipe of the products will be modified.
