Tibor Navracsics: tourism development can be really effective with a regional approach
Tourism development can be really effective with a regional approach, in the future we must consciously develop the regions that cross county borders and have their own identity, including the Bakony region – said Regional Development Minister Tibor Navracsics at the conference organized on the occasion of the signing of the Bakony Tourism Charter on Thursday.
The head of the ministry emphasized that Bakony has an identity as a landscape unit, which connects the settlements there.
Sándor Semsei, the president of the Hungarian TDM Association, said that the Bakony Tourism Charter sets out goals until 2030, which aim for Bakony to appear on the tourist map as an attractive, unified brand.
Tibor Navracsics also spoke about how, when developing the Bakony region, they do not only think in terms of investments, but take into account the characteristics of the region, the spirit and spirituality of the Bakony is displayed. He added: based on the experiences of the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture Program, it is possible and worthwhile to base the developments on culture and tourism.
Imre Polgárdy, the chairman of the Assembly of the Veszprém County Municipality, emphasized that active tourism is very popular in Hungary and called it important to coordinate tourism opportunities with development directions. He indicated: 2.7 billion HUF will be allocated to the development of active tourism in the county of Veszprém, of which HUF 1.8 billion will go to the Bakony region.
