NAV: illegally operating pet food distributor could face multi-million-forty-dollar fines
An irregularly operating pet food distributor can expect a multi-million-forint fine, the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) announced in a statement to MTI.
A pet food distributor offered free delivery of fresh chicken meat in Budapest in a refrigerated truck. At least 150 kilograms of the product had to be ordered. NAV inspectors did not receive a receipt during the test purchase. Experts from the Pest County Government Office determined that the product was not properly cooled and labeled, so the product was banned from distribution and the seller was ordered to destroy the goods.
In the case, NAV is proceeding due to the failure to issue a receipt, the unverified origin of the goods, and the employment of an undeclared employee who carried out the delivery. The company can expect a fine of more than four million forints due to a triple tax violation committed in a single transaction, they announced.
