NAV: Several tons of vegetables transported with insecticides have been withdrawn from circulation
Several tons of vegetables were withdrawn from circulation because insecticide was found in a truck along with the food – the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) told MTI on Tuesday.
As they wrote, the tax inspectors stopped a truck from Romania to the Netherlands on a main road in Gyula: the vehicle was transporting several tons of vegetables, but in addition to the crates, there were also 1,600 liters of various insecticides.
The poisons were not recorded, which seriously violated the regulations on the transport of dangerous goods – the NAV statement reads.
Due to the combined transport of vegetables and toxic substances, the NAV notified the experts of the Békés County Government Office, who immediately ordered the entire shipment to be withdrawn from circulation and destroyed for food safety reasons.
In parallel with the official action, the uniformed officers initiated administrative proceedings, and the carrier was ordered to pay a fine.
It was also reported that a Hungarian van was inspected by NAV employees on the outskirts of Orosháza. The cargo was also vegetables, but it turned out that the shipment had not been declared to the Electronic Road Freight Control System (EKÁER), and in addition, the vehicle was significantly overweight (1,200 kilograms).
The origin of some of the vegetables could not be verified, so the government office employees ordered their destruction.
