NAV: this year, the authority has already examined more than 28 million e-commerce packages
This year, the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) carried out more than 210,000 customs procedures and examined 28 million e-commerce packages, said the director of the NAV Airport Directorate on Wednesday in Alsónémedi.
József Teleki spoke at a press conference held on the occasion of the World Anti-Counterfeiting Day, in conjunction with the destruction of fake products, that the 28 million e-commerce packages that were inspected came from outside the European Union, and that not only Hungary, but also neighboring countries were the destination countries of the shipments.
He explained that during the customs inspection, the employees of the office check the documents of the goods based on a risk analysis and whether the product violates intellectual property rights.
“If we are dealing with a suspected fake product, we will contact the right owner of the trademark, who must declare whether the product is really fake”
added the director.
