Hungary is a sunflower seed superpower
According to the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI), in France 1.2 million tons of sunflower seed was harvested this year, while in Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary 1.8 million tons are expected to end up in warehouses. Hungary has a record year both in terms of sunflower growing area (630,000ha) and yield (2.9 tons/ha).
