Hungarians take out travel insurance for HUF 716 per day
In the summer season, the demand for travel insurance increased significantly in Hungary, especially among travelers to nearby European countries. According to the latest data from the insurance brokerage company Insura.hu, the average price of travel insurance policies in the first two months of the summer was HUF 716, which represents a 7.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Popular destinations
When traveling abroad, Hungarian tourists most often chose three countries as their destination:
Croatia: 28% of vacationers chose this destination.
Italy: 14% of tourists visited here.
Austria: with a rate of 7%, it is also considered a popular destination.
In addition to these, Slovenia (6%), Greece (5%), Romania (4%) and Germany (4%) are also among the most popular destinations.
Travel insurance categories and prices
The daily rates of travel insurance vary depending on the chosen category:
Basic insurance: Average daily price HUF 559.
Optimal insurance: it costs HUF 665 per day.
Premium insurance: The services can be used for an average daily fee of HUF 977.
The average duration of summer trips is 7.3 days, and the most common is the eight-day insurance, which is based on the 8-day/7-night scheme typical of weekly tours.
