The METRO Year of the Wind 2023 series has become a sunny selection!
The METRO Wine of the Year title is awarded every year by the supermarket chain to a selection of excellent white, rosé and red wines; in addition to the international selection, the Hungarian METRO also highlighted an excellent domestic wine trio this year. Wines carefully selected by wine experts can only be found in METRO stores. The wine selections are specially recommended for caterers who want to include risk-free, yet excellent value for money wines in their wine list.
METRO Hungarian Wine of the Year 2023
The international and Hungarian wine trio appeared in front of the press on March 22, 2023: the participants got to know a total of six items at the interactive wine exhibition held stylishly in the harbor. The champion wines of Garamvári Szőlőbirtok, which won the METRO Hungarian Wine of the Year title this year, were presented by Miklós Gáspár, the commercial director of the winery.
The Garamvári Vineyard in Balatonlelle is the treasure of the South Balaton wine region. The wines and champagnes of the winery founded by Vencel Garamvári, which looks back on more than three decades of history, have excellent results in Hungarian and international competitions, and in 2006 they won the titles of Winery of the Year and Wine Producer of the Year. Since 2019, three generations of the family have been working every day to ensure that their wines show the most exciting side of the grape varieties grown on the estate. The METRO Hungarian Wines of the Year, the wine selection with the imaginative name Kíkötő, was inspired by the sailing life of the Balaton.
