NAK-MAGOSZ: 200 thousand signatures collected against the uncontrolled influx of imported goods
More than 200,000 signatures have already been collected on the agricultural petition against the influx of uncontrolled imports. The results of the joint initiative of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Associations and Cooperatives (MAGOSZ) clearly show that the cause of agriculture is important to Hungarians, they stand up for domestic farmers and healthy food – the two organizations wrote in a joint statement on Thursday.
As highlighted, the online petition launched by the NAK and MAGOSZ received extremely significant interest. More than 200,000 people, both farmers and consumers, have signed the petition titled “We protect Hungarian land! We protect Hungarian farmers!”.
The 200,000 signatures collected clearly show that the issue of agriculture is important to Hungarians. Brussels and its domestic supporters would reduce subsidies to farmers and completely withdraw area-based subsidies from older farmers.
The signatories of the petition strongly protest against the more than 20 percent reduction in EU agricultural subsidies and consider it unacceptable that the European Commission allows goods to be imported from countries outside the EU – from Ukraine, Brazil or, for example, North Africa – without meaningful restrictions and controls. This would ruin Hungarian and EU farmers and pose a threat to food security – they wrote.
This was also the topic of the farmers’ protest in Brussels at the end of last year and in Strasbourg at the beginning of this year, where several thousand European farmers stood up for their interests and expressed their dissatisfaction with the European Commission’s plans – NAK and MAGOSZ reminded.
The aim of the agricultural petition is to protect Hungarian farmers and continue to ensure safe, healthy and high-quality food for Hungarian consumers. The 200,000 signatures collected on the petition so far are a powerful message to Brussels
– they announced.
“We will not let agriculture become a victim of trade deals and wrong EU decisions! We will not let our markets and farmers be destroyed! We will protect Hungarian land, we will protect Hungarian farmers!” – they said in the statement.
They added that the petition is still open, and you can still join the initiative https://www.agrarpeticio.hu/megvedjuk-a-magyar-gazdakat.
