NAK: sweet corn harvest may start next week
If weather allows, harvesting of sweet corn can begin next week. An average of 500 – 600 thousand tonnes are grown annually in Hungary on an average of 30-34,000 hectares – the National Agricultural Chamber (NAK) told MTI on Thursday.
According to the publication, the plants are in good condition despite the extreme spring weather, so the quality is expected to be good. The storms at the beginning of July caused damages in the production areas in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, and the damage assessment is still ongoing. (MTI)
