NAK: the melon season has arrived!
This year, the watermelon growing area has decreased significantly in Hungary, from 4,500-4800 hectares to 4,000 hectares, which was typical in previous years. The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Hungary was just in the period of melon planting, and many feared that their production areas would be reduced compared to the planned ones, fearing an uncertain future, thus reducing investment costs. In addition, the fact that exports and the domestic market have fluctuated due to unfavorable weather in the last two years also contributed to the decline.
