NAK: the corn supply in Hungary is ensured
Based on the amount harvested so far and the crop estimates, the supply of corn in Hungary is ensured, therefore imports will not be necessary – the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) told MTI on Friday.
According to the announcement issued jointly with the National Association of Grain Growers and the Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Cooperatives and Farmers’ Associations, the harvest has ended on just over half of the nearly 900,000-hectare crop area, so there are no exact data yet.
At the same time, it is certain that there will be neither quantity nor quality problems with corn domestically, they wrote.
The three organizations, in agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), ask everyone to refrain from expressions harmful from the market point of view, because the lifting of the Ukrainian import ban cannot be achieved even by creating panic
– they said.
They added that the breakdown of trust between producers, buyers and processors would also aggravate the situation of farmers struggling with drought and unfavorable market conditions.
