NAK: a critical agreement was reached for EU agriculture
After two decades of negotiations, the European Union and the Mercosur countries have decided on a comprehensive trade agreement that will create the world’s largest free trade area.
The National Chamber of Agriculture Economy shares the concern of European farmers and co-operatives that, as a result of the agreement, South America is flooding the EU with cheap beef and poultry, due to less stringent environmental and animal protection and food safety regulations in the EU, thus ruining producers, endangering food supply and food security.
