NAK: drought makes autumn sowing difficult
The dry weather of recent weeks has a double effect, the harvesting works are going well in the absence of rainfall, but seed preparation and sowing have been made very difficult by the dry soil, – the chairman of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) field crop production and supply industry department told MTI.
Petőházi Tamás explained that the sunflowers grown on 613 thousand hectares are harvested all over the country, the yield averages are very different, typically between 1.9-3.6 tons per hectare, which is lower than expected.
Recently, the harvest of corn has also begun, with a crop area of about 960 thousand hectares. (MTI)
