NAK: 150-200 thousand hectares are irrigated in Hungary
Irrigation is practiced in Hungary on about 150-200 thousand hectares, which is comparatively small compared to the Hungarian possibilities, because there would be a demand for irrigation on 400 thousand hectares – Győrffy Balázs, president of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) told M1 news channel on Tuesday.
The president said that research had been done on the topic. About 40,000 farmers were interviewed and more than one million hectares were being surveyed. It turned out that the biggest problem was the lack of infrastructure.
At the same time, problem also occurs in the case of jointly owned land, the owners often cannot agree on irrigation. (MTI)
