In the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the foundation stone of the new plant and automated warehouse in Dunaföldvár, which will be implemented in the third development phase of the Vajda-Papír Group, was laid on January 20, 2026. At the event, the Hungarian-owned Vajda-Papír Group announced a large-scale expansion program comprising four development projects, which covers the company’s capacity expansion investment, the related training project, the development aimed at renewable energy production, and the capacity expansion investment implemented within the framework of profit repatriation.

The total volume of the developments is 70.8 billion forints, to which the Government of Hungary is contributing 24.9 billion forints in non-refundable support. The four projects will create a total of 64 new jobs. Hungary’s leading tissue paper manufacturer is further strengthening its export capacity and security of supply by increasing its processing capacity and automating its finished product logistics.

The investment, which is part of the third development phase of the Vajda-Papír Group, has a total value of HUF 23.2 billion, and includes new production capacities, the construction of a new production hall, and the creation of a fully automated high-bay warehouse. The Government of Hungary is contributing HUF 6.9 billion in non-refundable support to the implementation of the project, with the remaining part being financed by the company from its own resources and loans. During the development that is now underway, Vajda-Papír will install two modern roll processing machines in a new production hall: a machine suitable for the production of toilet paper and hand towels, and a machine for the production of paper handkerchiefs. As a result of the investment, the group will increase its current annual processing capacity of 140,000 tons by 30,000 tons, further strengthening its presence in the export market. As part of the investment, a fully automated high-bay warehouse capable of handling and storing 44,000 pallets will also be built, which will operate without human intervention. The new logistics center is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The investment will create 50 new jobs.

The Vajda-Papír Group is implementing a corporate training program worth 1.4 billion forints, the aim of which is to deepen professional knowledge in the paper industry and further increase production efficiency. The Government of Hungary has contributed 721.6 million forints in non-refundable support to the implementation of the program. 10 new jobs were created within the framework of the training project. Thanks to the Factory Rescue Program, the Group is implementing a 13.1 billion forint investment in renewable energy production by installing a solar park, which will create 4 jobs. Vajda-Papír is also implementing a capacity expansion investment within the framework of profit repatriation in order to serve future market needs. The volume of the investment is 33 billion forints. The Government of Hungary is supporting the development with a non-refundable cash grant of 11.6 billion forints. The total volume of the four projects is 70.8 billion forints and the total amount of state support given to the four projects is 24.9 billion forints. The four projects will create a total of 64 jobs, while employing more than 600 employees at the Vajda-Papír Group’s Hungarian sites.

Based on preliminary data, the Vajda-Papír Group further strengthened its financial performance in 2025. The group increased its net sales revenue by 5.3% compared to the same period in 2024, while its profit before tax increased by 3%. Attila Vajda, founding managing director of the Vajda-Papír Group, said: The Vajda-Papír Group is consciously building a production and supply structure covering the entire vertical, from base paper production through finished product development and production to its own highly secure logistics, in order to ensure competitive, sustainable and export-oriented operations in the long term and, if necessary, to ensure Hungary’s self-sufficiency. The company is also planning further developments in the coming years, including investments related to the use of renewable energy.
