Consumer sentiment in the United States deteriorated sharply in November
The consumer sentiment index fell to 77.0 points from 81.8 points in October, the highest level since March. The market expected a modest improvement of 82.0 points in November. In the last month not affected by the coronavirus crisis, February, the sentiment index stood at 101 points.
Among the index elements, the indicator quantifying the subjective assessment of the current situation deteriorated much less than that of the outlooks. In October, the sentiment index may have improved due to the improvement in the outlook, but the assessment of the current situation deteriorated, even if not significantly. (MTI)
