Major drop in egg’s price
Data from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) and KSH’s market price information system (PÁIR) revealed that 80 percent of Hungary’s agri-food import came from 10 EU countries; our five most important import partners were Germany, Poland, Slovakia, the Netherlands and Austria with a combined share of 57 percent in 2017.
There were 1.146 million sheep in Hungary on 1 December 2017. According to the European Commission, the EU’s goat and sheep meat production will grow by 2 percent to 917,000 tons in 2018. Per capita consumption is forecasted to be 1.8kg just like in 2017. In Hungary the price of M and L size eggs was HUF 30.51/piece at the place of packaging in February 2018 – this price is 28 percent lower than it was in the second month of 2017. //
