U.S. consumers are very confident
Consumer confidence in the U.S shows a spectacular improvement: in April, the Conference Board's confidence index rose up to 57.9 points from the 52.3 points of March. The market expects a more modest increase, the analysts' consensus was 53.5 points.
The Conference Board’s value of 57.9 points is the highest figure, since September 2008. The index reflecting on the current situation increased to 28.6 points from 25.2 points, while the outlook index improved to 77.4 points from 70.4 points.
Lynn Franco, the Conference Board’s head of research, in relation with the results of the survey said that the important condition for sustainable improvement of the index is the improvement on the labor market – reports portfolio.hu.
