Greater emphasis must be placed on the rise of green energy
Greater emphasis must be placed on the rise of green energy, for which the recently launched online green consultation provides a good opportunity – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy in a video uploaded to his Facebook page on Thursday morning.
The head of the ministry called for as many people as possible to participate in the online dialogue, because “green energy is our common cause”. He emphasized that protecting our created world is a common duty, which is why “we do it every day”. He said that in the last hundred years, the area of Hungary’s forests has doubled, which is the result of the cooperation of Hungarian farmers and foresters. The goal is for 27 percent of the country’s territory to be covered by forests and trees by 2030. He added that the Country Forestry program was launched in order to achieve this goal. Part of the initiative is the greening of settlements with less than 10,000 inhabitants, which is served by the Settlement Tree Program. As part of the recently announced fourth phase of the Settlement Afforestation Program, the number of trees planted in the ground will increase to 56,000 by the end of the year, he said.
István Nagy also touched on the fact that the national park directorates also work every day to protect our natural treasures
The investments they implemented improved the state of the natural environment on 300,000 hectares. These initiatives are particularly helpful in combating climate change and in achieving the climate neutrality goals formulated by the government, said the minister.
