Márton Nagy: inflation remained at a low level
Based on the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), in April 2024, in line with the trends of previous months, the rate of inflation remained at a low level, amounting to 3.7 percent. The monthly change in inflation also stabilized at a low level, compared to the previous month, the rate of inflation in April was 0.7 percent, which is 0.1 percentage points lower than the monthly change seen in March, highlighted the Minister of National Economy, Márton Nagy, in his commentary on the latest data.
According to the ministry’s statement, it is noteworthy that among the April data, within the food product group, the price of eggs increased by 20.3 percent, flour by 19.7 percent, dry pasta by 12.5 percent, cheese by 9.6 percent, and milk by 9.3 percent. percent, bread decreased by 9.0 percent, and poultry decreased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Household energy became cheaper by 4.5 percent, including piped gas by 9.2 percent, while electric energy became cheaper by 2.9 percent. On average, you had to pay 1.7 percent less for consumer durables.
The minister emphasized that the significant reduction in the price of basic foodstuffs and household energy is a major help for Hungarian families, and also contributes to the dissolution of the precautionary motive and the recovery of consumption.
