Márton Nagy: sixteen-point deregulation package for the development of tourism
The Ministry of National Economy jointly with the Hungarian Tourism Agency presented a 16 (14+2) point deregulation package aimed at the development of tourism, the Minister of National Economy said at a press conference in Budapest on Monday.
Márton Nagy added: the tourism sector is performing very well, it reaches 12 percent of the GDP and provides more than 10 percent of the tax revenues, the goal at the same time is to reduce bureaucracy and increase the competitiveness of the sector, which is why the Tourism Advisory Board, which has 33 member organizations, prepared package for further development.
The package includes, among other things, the regulation of short-term housing rentals (the government will only make changes in the capital, there will be no Airbnb regulation in the countryside), the maximization of the service fee, the comprehensive regulation of tour guiding activities, the development of the digital SZÉP card, and according to the plans, the introduction of the carbon dioxide tax on airlines – explained the minister.
Regarding the short-term rental of apartments, the minister said that the government will only make changes in Budapest, there will be no Airbnb regulation in the countryside.
