Márton Nagy and Elek Nagy discussed the implementation of the Government-MKIK program
The implementation of the 2025–2030 strategic agreement signed between the Government and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) for the period 2025–2030 was discussed by Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy, President Elek Nagy and their colleagues. The discussion focused on addressing the tasks to be solved in the short term, as well as on specific proposals made in order to modernize the structure of the economy in the medium term and increase the rate of higher value-added production.
The parties held a high-level meeting in line with the agreement signed between MKIK and the government in May, at which the Chamber formulated its first proposals based on the agreement:
- Supporting innovative enterprises: removing regulatory and financing barriers, launching a promising enterprise program based on the government-MKIK agreement, raising the small business tax (KIVA) thresholds;
- Reducing the burden on the smallest entrepreneurs: reducing the flat tax for sole proprietors, further increasing the threshold for VAT exemption;
- Expanding export markets, strengthening cooperation with foreign missions, mitigating the effects of customs measures;
- Launching educational programs based on the government-MKIK agreement. These include, among others, the entrepreneurial innovation capacity-enhancing and leadership training program, establishing cooperation with higher education institutions, developing training programs, and building a chamber mentor network;
- Accelerating digital development with educational and support programs, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
Demján Sándor Program 2.0: restarting the 1+1 program, accelerating resource withdrawal, easing financial conditions, encouraging major technological developments; - Széchenyi Card Program: interest rate reduction, introduction of new targeted or higher-risk products, digitalization and acceleration of processes;
The aim of MKIK is for our country to avoid the so-called middle-income trap, a situation where a country is unable to move up to the high-income countries, while also working to ensure that the entrepreneurial operating environment can provide the necessary conditions for this. According to MKIK, this requires urgent measures and the immediate start of work to prepare for the changes needed in the medium term. MKIK’s position is that an entrepreneurial ecosystem must be created that simultaneously supports companies with high growth potential and key enterprises for the local economy, as well as their cooperation.
“The time has come when the Hungarian economy must not only adapt now, but also proactively shape the future. It is our common responsibility to ensure that all actors find their place in the new economic ecosystem,”
– emphasized Elek Nagy, President of MKIK, after the discussion.
