István Nagy: Hungary’s food supply was secured because of the war
Hungary’s food supply is secured – the Minister of Agriculture said on Monday on the current channel M1.
He added that last year the country exported more than two million tons of wheat and corn, despite the war situation. István Nagy reminded that since Hungary’s food supply is secured, the government will implement the export notification system introduced for grain and oilseeds.
He added that this had to be introduced last March because it was feared that Hungarian grain would quickly flow out of the country due to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war. However, due to the measure, up-to-date information was available on the crops intended for delivery.
He also mentioned that Ukraine’s exports of grain and oilseeds have increased significantly, and buyers are looking for this cheap, “low-price” product, so that neighboring countries cannot sell their own stocks.
