István Nagy: the price monitor works effectively
It has only been in operation for a few weeks, but the price monitor is already helping Hungarian families save a lot – Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced on his social media page, according to the ministry’s announcement on Tuesday.
The head of the department reminded: the government decided in May to create a price monitoring system, within the framework of a website on which anyone can compare how much a product is available in grocery stores. The new inflation-reducing initiative has already lived up to expectations. More than 750,000 people used the price monitor, and because of this, the food chains also run a big competition for customers: they reduce the prices, he added.
The minister emphasized that the aim of the ministry is to preserve the competitiveness of farmers and to keep the purchase prices at an appropriate level. The new system can help commercial chains reduce their own margins. The ministry is working to ensure that producers, processors, traders and buyers are the winners of this process.
