István Nagy: we must win the trust of consumers
In addition to the developments affecting the agricultural sector, we need to win the trust of consumers, we have work to do in this area – the Minister of Agriculture stated on Thursday at the groundbreaking ceremony held at the Szerencsi Mezőgazdasági Zrt. site in Taktaharkány, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County.
István Nagy said that there is a wide choice available to consumers, the goal is for buyers to choose Hungarian products. Because they always mean quality, safety, are controlled and traceable from production to the table – he stated.
The Minister of Agriculture drew attention to the fact that it is worth choosing consciously, because “this also contributes to the strengthening and growth of the Hungarian national economy”. He emphasized that even by purchasing a carton of Hungarian milk, we are helping a farm and a family’s livelihood.
István Nagy highlighted that there are funds worth 2,900 billion forints available, which can be spent on investments. He said that the time for action has come, that developments can increase profitability by 50 percent, export volume by 53 percent, and the ratio of raw materials/processed products intended for export can be reversed in favor of the latter.
The minister pointed out that the only way to achieve production security and build the food economy is if everyone, from the producer to the processor to the consumer, makes conscious decisions.
“This is how we can protect each other,”
– he said.
He indicated that due to the characteristics of the Hungarian economy, it would be able to provide for more than twenty million people, and the goal is for this to be true not only in raw material production, but also for all processed products by 2030.
