The issue of food prices is also included in the national consultation – Minister of Agriculture István Nagy pointed out in a video published on the government’s Facebook page on Monday.

He explained that gas prices have risen due to Brussels sanctions, and this greatly increases the costs of agricultural production. As an example, he mentioned that the cost of fertilizer production is particularly sensitive to gas price increases. He added that this problem does not only affect Europe, price increases can cause a food crisis in developing countries, and this can trigger even bigger waves of migration than before. He emphasized: the skyrocketing food prices also prove that the sanctions hurt Europe more than Russia.
István Nagy stated that these are questions that affect everyone’s life, and he encouraged everyone to express their opinion and participate in the consultation.
