Nagy István: the seed sector produces 180-190 billion HUF value per year
The seed sector of Hungary produces goods worth 180-190 billion forints annually, half of which is exported directly, and the market expansion of recent years shows that there is a future for seed processing and storage capacity – Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said on Tuesday at the delegation meeting of the Seed Association Interprofessional Organization and Product Board in Budaörs.
In his presentation, the Minister explained that the long-term sustainability of Hungarian agricultural production is ensured by quality seeds and propagating material. This is also an important national food and food security strategic issue. The quality of the seed produced in the country greatly influences the quality and quantity of the crop to be harvested.
