The government has decided to help dairy farmers with about 7 billion forints: in the next three months, farmers will be paid a premium of about 15 forints for every liter of milk, the Minister of Agriculture said in a video uploaded to his Facebook page on Wednesday.

István Nagy emphasized that producers do not have to apply for the support separately, they can apply for it are automatically eligible, who also received the national milk subsidy after their application last year.

He added that this subsidy complements the approximately 38 billion forints of targeted milk subsidy paid since the end of last year.

He said that the producers will receive the subsidy no later than the first week of April. “Farmers can still count on the national government, as they have done so far, and this shows”

– the minister emphasized. The government will not leave them alone in this difficult situation, he added.

He recalled: An overproduction crisis has developed in Europe. There are several reasons for this: on the one hand, more cows have been put into production, and on the other hand, the Chinese tariff is causing export difficulties for European Union dairy products, which is even exacerbated by the war situation, the Minister of Agriculture said in a video posted on his social media page.
