Large stores with a high market share
Between April 2016 and March 2017 fruit yogurt sales exceeded HUF 37 billion. Value sales didn’t change in the examined period but volume sales decreased by 1.3 percent. Plain yogurt sales were worth almost HUF 8 billion in the last 12 months, but value sales dropped 3 percent; like-for-like volume sales didn’t change. Shops bigger than 400m² realised 71 percent of fruit yogurt value sales and 77 percent of yogurt value sales.
The market share of stores bigger than 2,500m² reduced in the case of both yogurt types. In the 401-2,500m² channel 2 percentage point more fruit yogurt and 3 percentage point more yogurt was sold – the shares were 46 percent and 53 percent, respectively. In 201-400m² shops the sales share of fruit yogurt was 10 percent and plain yogurt was at 9 percent. Manufacturer brands’ share was 87 percent among fruit yogurts and 66 percent among yogurts this year.
