Artificial vodka, artificial whisky, artificial joy
Evgeny Moscalev, a professor of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University developed a method for turning vodka (or any other spirit) into powder, from which pills can be made. It might turn out to be a success, but spirit drinkers might miss the experience of the glass and the ceremony of drinking. Researchers at Imperial College London developed an alcohol substitute that mimics its pleasant buzz, providing a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation. The new substance could have at least one added bonus: it can be ‘switched off’ instantaneously with a pill, to allow drinkers to drive.
The Brave New World is approaching, is not it?
