Twenty-eight Balaton beaches have received a five-star Blue Wave Flag
The Diási Játék Beach in Gyenesdiás won the title of Balaton’s Best Beach 2024, and 28 Balaton beaches can fly the five-star Blue Wave Flag for the best – it was revealed at the award ceremony of the Balaton Association (BSZ) on Friday in Vonyarcvashegy.
For the 21st time this year, the association of local governments has announced the Blue Wave Beach Certification, which has become a trademark of the best Balaton beaches – it was announced at the event. This year, 46 beach operators took part in the competition, some of them with free beaches and campsites.
Gábor Lombár, the president of the BSZ, highlighted in his speech that winning the Blue Wave Flag has now become a prestigious recognition, and at the same time, the qualification of the professional judging committee has also become a guide for future development directions.
The site visits took place the week after the start of the school holidays, the BSZ involved its partner organizations in the evaluation committee; the representatives of the Women for Balatonért Association, the Balaton Tourism Association, the Balaton Circle, the Balaton Uplands National Park, and the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ). Again this year, the named beaches were rated from one to five stars, thus indicating the quality and selection of the spa’s services. Among the participating beaches, 28 won five-star, 14 four-star, and four three-star Blue Wave Flags.
