Managing labour shortage with outsourcing
In the last few months labour shortages occurred in many sectors in Hungary: by the end of 2015 almost 60,000 positions were unfilled. The Hungarian Outsourcing Association (HOA) is of the opinion that this lack of labour force can be managed flexibly, for instance by using outsourcing – a method that is really cost-efficient for employers. Since 2013 the level of unemployment has been decreasing: 2013 – 10 percent, 2014 – 7.7 percent, 2015 – 6.8 percent. Between November 2015 and January 2016 more than 3.9 million people were working in Hungary.
HOA president Attila Suhajda called attention to the fact that businesses were looking for 12,000 recruitable employees in the processing industry only. HOA’s expectation is that with the Hungarian economy’s expansion the unemployment rate will improve further, but in certain sectors the lack of qualified labour force will remain. To manage this situation is of utmost importance if we want to avoid a situation where labour shortage holds back economic growth.
