Labor shortages and logistical challenges make it difficult for courier services to operate
The growing popularity of online shopping has presented significant challenges to delivery companies, especially during the summer holidays. According to the modern trade union Egyenlő.hu, more and more customers are forced to pick up their ordered packages in person, as home delivery services cannot fulfill their commitments.
Delivery problems in summer
In the summer season, it is common for the ordered packages not to be delivered to the home, but to be placed at parcel points or vending machines, which customers only find out about later. This problem occurs mainly due to the lack of labor and the inadequacy of logistics systems, which causes tension both for courier companies and customers, reports Economx.
Labor shortages and overworked couriers
According to Csaba Bubenkokó, president of the Egyenlő.hu modern trade union, employees of courier companies often face difficulties caused by the lack of staff when they start work. The drivers have to deliver 180-200 packages a day, which means a significant load. For this reason, in many cases, based on internal instructions, certain free packages are not delivered to addresses, but are left at collection points.
