MTÜ: increasing number of guests, increasing sales – many people chose Balaton
Not only the temperature of Lake Balaton, but also the number of guests arriving there rose significantly on the third weekend of July. In the hottest days of the summer so far, there were not only domestic but also foreign guests, according to the data. The number of one-day tourists also increased significantly, most guests were in Siófok. The data of the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK) also shows that half of the guests arriving in the region were in six Balaton settlements – the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) told MTI on Wednesday.
Based on NTAK data, compared to the first, rainy weekend in July, the guest traffic of hotels on the shores of Lake Balaton increased by 7 percent for the second weekend, and compared to the second weekend of July, there were nearly 10 percent more people at hotels in the area on the third weekend of the month.
In June, 5 percent more domestic and 3 percent more foreign guests arrived compared to 2019, which is considered the base. Compared to 2022, this June the number of foreign guests was 19 percent higher, and the number of guest nights was 8 percent higher.
