MTÜ: Balaton is also a favorite destination for cyclists and hikers
Every year, more and more people take advantage of the program possibilities of the Balaton tourist area, the main role is no longer just the beach. In addition to nearly a hundred museums, exhibition spaces and visitor centers, there are several adventure parks and cycling centers to choose from for those who are looking for other recreational opportunities instead of bathing at Lake Balaton, which thanks to the developments of recent years has become Hungary’s number one cycling tourism destination – pointed out the Hungarian Tourism Board in its announcement on Friday. This year, BAHART has already sold 16 percent more bicycle tickets on passenger ships, the Balaton ships are also running at full capacity, and the ferry traffic will soon reach 1 million passengers.
In addition to going to the beach, those traveling to Balaton can also go hiking, cycling, boating or discover the cultural values of the region – they wrote.
Particularly rich programs await visitors thanks to the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program year. For those looking for active recreation, several adventure parks from Alsópáh to Zamárdin to Zalaszabar have expanded their offer in recent years, and the Balaton-Felvídeki National Park is also waiting for its guests with many new features – listed the MTÜ.
