M&S: 950 workplaces are in danger
Marks & Spencer has confirmed that 950 jobs are at risk – the company plans to reduce store management and head office roles. This step is hoped to result in ‘a leaner, faster retail management structure.’ M&S’s priority now is to support all those affected through the consultation process and beyond. Earlier M&S had granted a leave of absence to 27,000 of its 78,000 employees under the government’s coronavirus job retention scheme to discourage companies from laying off workers.
