Now the French goose breeders may suffer because of animal right organizations
The foie gras trade is fined in California since July. The decision hurts the French producers, Hungarian producers are not directly affected by it now, not like a few years ago – wrote Világgazdaság Online, after Vasárnap Reggel.
California’s gourmets and chefs who are receptive for the European cuisine are in a serious war with the animal rights activists, it seems that the latter are winning this time. According to a law, entered into force recently, who sell foie gras in California can expect a serious thousand USD fine. The cause according to the animal rights activists is the goose filling – which is essential for the production of foie gras – is none other than animal cruelty. Researchers and farmers dispute this.
