Tesco intends to cut food waste with unwashed potatoes
Tesco has introduced unwashed potatoes to approximately 262 stores in the United Kingdom, in order to reduce food waste. Unwashed potatoes have a longer shelf life, because soil helps to block out light and slow down the natural decay process. Tesco collaborated with Branston, one of the UK’s leading potato suppliers, for a pilot project involving the launch of unwashed organic white potatoes in 120 stores.
