Mol: the Hungarian population is increasingly open to solutions that strengthen the circular economy
The Hungarian population is increasingly open to solutions that strengthen the circular economy, such as selective waste collection, and almost 40 percent of respondents are convinced that waste is a valuable source of energy, according to a recent Mol survey, which was sent to MTI on Tuesday on Global Recycling Day.
They added that Mol regularly examines public attitudes related to sustainability, and the numbers show that although the change is slow, the direction is clearly positive.
The current national representative survey – commissioned by MOHU – involved 1,000 people aged 18-69 in Hungary.
Based on the results, it was determined that the Hungarian population is open to selective waste collection: 63 percent of respondents stated that they collect plastic waste separately.
This rate is 60 percent for paper, 50 percent for metal and glass, 46 percent for tires, 39 percent for used oil and cooking fat, 45 percent for green kitchen waste, 30 percent for textile waste, and 27 percent for food waste.
They pointed out that the proportion of sorters for green kitchen waste, food waste, tires, and textile waste has increased compared to 2023, and every second respondent also fully agrees that waste must be reborn for a sustainable future. In addition, they called it a significant change that almost 40 percent of respondents are now convinced that waste is a valuable source of energy.
