The data reporting deadline for manufacturers and first domestic marketers under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system is approaching: they must fulfill their quantitative data reporting obligation for the previous quarter by July 20 through the National Environmental Information System (OKIRkapu), MOHU warned in a statement sent to MTI.

In the EPR system, the registration and fee payment obligation covers manufacturers and first domestic marketers of circular products such as packaging, certain single-use plastic products, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and accumulators, vehicles, tires, advertising media and office paper, cooking oil and grease, as well as textile products and wooden furniture.

The purpose of the EPR system is not to impose sanctions, but to ensure efficient and sustainable waste management. The system will help Hungary achieve the EU waste management goals, including the 65 percent recycling rate set for 2040, the announcement highlights.

MOHU explains: in addition to providing data, all affected companies must register on the MOHU Partner Portal in order to maintain direct contact. If this has not yet been done, they must also register with the national waste management authority for official registration. The authority will forward the data to MOHU Waste Management Co. Ltd. In the new system, MOHU will take care of, among other things, the receipt, collection, transport, trade of waste generated from circular products, as well as the maintenance and operation of waste management facilities.
