MOHU: the number of returned beverage packages reached one hundred million
The number of returned beverage bottles, cans and glasses in the mandatory redemption fee system (DRS) in Hungary has reached 100 million, the head of the producer responsibility system of MOHU Mol Hulladékzágászólzi Zrt. (MOHU) announced on Tuesday in Biatorbágy.
Szilvia Szabó said at the press conference held at the Príma store in Biatorbágy: the activity and enthusiasm of the customers, as they started using the system, exceeded all expectations. He added that in a few weeks, by the middle of August, the number of returned beverage packages reached 4-5 million per day. MOHU’s goal is to return at least 90 percent of beverage packaging in Hungary, he said. According to MOHU EPR manager Szilvia Szabó, the redemption of the one hundred millionth bottle proves the correctness of the introduction of the system and that customers are committed to environmental protection and sustainability. He emphasized: MOHU considers it its task to offer an accessible and convenient solution for all customers in the field of bottle exchange. To this end, they are developing and expanding the network, the system of which already has more than 3,000 automatic and nearly 1,000 manual reversers operating in the country, and their number is constantly increasing.
