MNB: the monetary council did not change the base rate
The Monetary Council of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) did not change the base rate at its meeting on Tuesday, which remains unchanged at 6.50 percent. Neither edge of the interest rate corridor changed.
The lower edge of the interest rate corridor, the overnight (O/N) deposit rate, remained at 5.50 percent, and the upper edge, the overnight (O/N) loan rate, remained at 7.50 percent.
The Monetary Council last reduced the central bank’s base rate by 25 basis points in September, and it also lowered both edges of the interest rate corridor by the same amount.
