MNB: use of payment cards is increasing abroad and on the Internet
With the development of the payment infrastructure, the penetration of touch technology has continued, with touch cards accounting for 85 percent of all payment cards at the end of last year and touch devices accounting for over 89 percent of all devices.
For the whole of last year, the number of transactions increased by 18 percent and its value by 21 percent. In addition to shopping transactions made domestically, the role of cross-border and Internet shopping is also gaining in importance- the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) said in its analysis of payment cards published on Monday.
