With the program “Cybersecurity safety net for the SME sector“, which helps businesses prepare for cybersecurity, SMEs saved more than 1 billion forints in expenses – the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) told MTI on Tuesday.

According to the announcement, 310 businesses participated in the program’s events. According to calculations, these companies saved 200 million forints by avoiding fines, 560 million forints by avoiding overinsurance, and 300 million forints by correctly setting up the Electronic Information System.

During the project, 22 in-person and online workshops were held, 40 companies took advantage of the opportunity for individual consultations, and 10 guidelines and 30 legal positions were issued, confirmed by the Hungarian Regulatory Activities Supervisory Authority (SZTFH).

They added that the initiative, which is part of the Enterprise Development Project, aims to prepare for the NIS2 audit. The NIS2 audit is mandatory for companies performing critical activities in accordance with the EU Cybersecurity Directive to ensure their resilience against cyber threats.
