MKIK GVI: the year-end bonus payment is determined by the number of employees and the ownership structure of the companies
About a quarter of companies in the private sector give Christmas bonuses to their employees (26 percent), but this proportion reaches 72 percent in companies with more than 250 employees, according to the MKIK GVI survey.
According to the information sent to MTI on Wednesday, two-thirds of the companies (68 percent) do not give Christmas bonuses this year, while 6 percent said that they rewarded their employees during the year rather than at the end of the year.
The survey revealed that the frequency of end-of-year bonuses is determined by the number of companies and the ownership structure, but there are no large differences in the sector breakdown. A quarter of Hungarian companies (25 percent) distribute rewards at the end of the year, for foreign (partially) owned companies, this ratio is 45 percent. A quarter of employees in companies with 1-9 employees, every second employee in companies with 10-49 employees, and 63 percent in companies with 50-249 employees can count on year-end benefits.
By sector, industrial (35 percent) and commercial (34 percent) companies lead the list, followed by companies operating in the service sector (23 percent).
