What is Consumer Protection investigating in 2025?
The 2025 Inspection and Investigation Program of the Consumer Protection Authority contains the thematic investigations along which the government agencies acting within the scope of the consumer protection authority will conduct their inspections. Within 39 thematic investigations, the government agencies will conduct their inspections in a total of 50 topics in order to protect Hungarian families and consumers, enforcing consumer rights by conducting official procedures and applying legal consequences where justified.
In addition to the traditional, year-on-year inspections, in 2025 the authority will also conduct inspections in new areas, such as “green claims”, false consumer opinions and market surveillance inspections of online marketplaces, or the examination of the general terms and conditions of real estate agents.
1. General consumer protection inspection of traditional retail establishments
2. Inspection of the enforcement of government measures taken to protect consumer interests
3. Inspection of compliance with the regulations on the price monitoring system
4. Comprehensive inspection of electricity, natural gas, water utilities and waste management public services based on consumer submissions received
5. Comprehensive consumer protection inspection of products arriving from third countries
6. Inspection of the distribution of tobacco products, examination of the tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide yields of cigarettes
7. Market surveillance inspection of tattoo inks
8. Inspection of the application of general advertising rules and regulations protecting the Hungarian language
9. Market surveillance inspection of universal battery chargers
10. Inspection of skin-friendly and environmentally friendly detergents and cleaning products in light of misleading labelling
