Early this year an American ‘businessman’ was arrested in Chile because he tried to smuggle USD 6,000 worth of ice out of the country. The ice came from the protected Jorge Montt glacier in Patagonia, the world’s fastest ice river. Who buys this type of ice? Cocktail snobs in American bars, who like to cool their drinks with ice frozen for several thousand years, which not only sounds really special to them but also serves as a great marketing tool for certain bars.
